There are plenty of activities on offer in and around Les Arcs should you want a change of scene for the day or maybe your non biking other half wants to come and stay too.

See the beautiful Tarentaise valley from a birds perspective, soaring over the mountains of Les Arcs. Introductory tandem trips and longer courses are possible.

Exhilarating white water rafting trips down the Haute-Isere river or the Doron de Bozel.

The slalom canoeing area on the Isere river, a short ride form the chalet, is one of the most difficult and prestigious in the world.  It regularly hosts the French championships and occasionally the World Championships.

Jump, slide, swim, climb down some or the region's spectacular gorges.

Mountaineering and Glacier Hiking
Take a trip with local guides up to the glaciers and peaks or try glacier hiking which is an intermediate step between mountaineering and hiking, using crampons to navigate your way across the glaciers.

Parc Acrobatique Gli Air
This adventure park in the trees is enormous fun.  All ages are catered for, with a trail for 6-7 year olds up to a difficult trail for teenages and adults.  A new ‘black’ circuit has been added with one long rope slide at the end.  Don’t worry-help is at hand if you get stuck!

Bouldering rocks are located close to the chalet and climbing lessons are available on marvellous local rock formations.

Via Ferrata
Designed originally to train Italian soldiers, these feature modern fixed climbing aids and will only cost you the price of hiring the harness and helmets. Located at the top of the valley the Via Ferrata is a great way to spend a few hours if you have a head for heights!

    Vanoise National Park
The Mountain Bike Chalet Co is situated just adjacent to the famous Vanoise National Park, justly renowned for its spectacular scenery and wildlife.  It is the oldest national park in France and the highest point is the Grand Casse at 3855m.    Many km of trails criss cross the local area with wonderful walks possible to the Lac de la Plagne or to Tignes.

    Notre Dame de Vernettes
Renowned for its beautiful frescoes, this chapel is revered throughout the Tarentaise and internationally renowned.  Just watch out if you drink at the miraculous spring- its meant to aid fertility!

    The Palais de la Mine
Developed in the 18th century after lead and silver were found in the area.  The area achieved national prominence at this point and the School of Mining was established here.

    Aiguille rouge
ake a trip up on this cable car to 3226m for a spectacular 360 degree view of the French, Swiss and Italian Alps as well as Mont Blanc.

    Professional local guides.
Professional guides are available locally to take you to see the local flora and fauna, lakes and high summits.

Les Arcs has a gorgeous outdoor pool where you can relax all day, admiring the panoramic view.  There is also a day time café so you need never leave.
Close to Landry at the bottom of the mountain, Plan D'eau is a pretty man made lake on the Bourg – Aime cycle path. Very popular for a few hours chilling out!

Les Arcs has a 9 hole and 18 hole course.  It is possible to get tuition through the David Leadbetter Academy.

Savoie was only joined to France 150 years ago.  Throughout its turbulent history it has had to protect its borders and the  crossing points between France and Italy.  In Bourg you can visit the Fort de la Platte a stone fortress perched high above the town or visit the Tour Montmayeur in Aime.

    Les Chemins du Baroque
Thanks to a period of prosperity in the 17th to 18th centuries, the local Savoyards commissioned Italian artists to carve and paint a bevy of cute golden putti, cherubs and saints in the churches, leaving a wonderful legacy.  Often the plain austere exteriors belie the elaborate and colourful art within.  The churches of Peisey Nancroix, Landry and Notre Dame de Vernettes are excellent examples.
